How the OBCS works


The OBCS is a charging system configured to fit in the front end of an all electric vehicle. The system produces 36 kilowatts of energy per hour of driving which is accomplished by capturing the by product energy of the vehicles motion. Since battery capacity has extended travel distance, and travel time has finally reached the 4-5 hour threshold, with the use of a 90 or 100 kilowatt hour battery we can charge the battery over the course of that 4-5 hours.

Innovation was not just figuring out how to build a 36 kilowatt hour non combustion engine power plant that will fit into a car.

It is ITZ Smart’s patent pending battery technology that enables us to charge the battery while still using it to run the vehicle without damaging the battery.

The initial specifications are geared around the Tesla Model S series drive train and a 90 kilowatt hour battery. (Though we are not specifically tied to it). If we were to use the Model S as our base, with the reduction of allowable adult occupancy from 5 persons to 4 persons to account for the weight of the OBCS, the charging system will extend the range of this car to 1010 miles on a single charge. With the charging system, any electric vehicle that is capable of 5 hours driving time on a single charge with a minimum speed of 25 mph could use the OBCS to extend its range. The only limitation on how far the range could be extended is based upon total vehicle weight, drag co-efficiency, and driving habits. For example, reducing the weight of the same Tesla Model S by 400lbs will increase the range to 3000 miles with the OBCS added. In short, a 36 kilowatt power plant creating 36 kilowatts per hour of driving could charge a 90 or 100 kilowatt battery over 4-5 hours. Even charging 4 hours, that’s 144 kilowatt hours of energy generated, more than enough to charge a battery.
