Adam Arkell, Founder of The Republic Spring Water, he has started a crowdfunding campaign on gofundme with a goal of raising $35k. He says “After walking into a store and seeing a bottle of water priced at $3.50, it had to be asked, what are we going to do to fix this? How can water cost more than petrol?” Looking into this further I found more and more reasons why this problem needed to be addressed.”
Plastic bottles are not only polluting our planet and destroying natural habitats, they are also the source of many health related issues occurring in our general population. We are clearly trying to do the right thing in consuming water, but is it really good for us when it comes from a plastic bottle? And what is it doing to our planet?
As he thought about it further, he found more and more reasons as to why the problem needed to be addressed. There were the photos he’d seen of how the world was being destroyed by the pollution caused by plastic bottles, and the research he’d read about the health issues associated with drinking tap water. The equation just didn’t add up…

Adam decided he’d heard enough and he needed to take action. An engineer by profession, Adam was ready to take a new path with a vision to make a significant difference to the health quality of both people and the planet.
Adam has started bringing his idea to life and has engaged with Red Meets Blue to turn that idea into a brand. For Adam, it’s about doing something great in the world. The company is starting in Perth with 10 machines, but he doesn’t want to put limits on what it can become. Launching the brand is a big investment for Adam and although it is in no way a motivation, finances must be considered. For Adam, the target isn’t wealth and riches; it’s simply to be able to live comfortably with the opportunity to play golf on a regular basis, whilst making a positive impact on the world around him.

Republic Spring Water Functions
The vending machine facilitates the sale of spring water and serves as somewhat of a physical hub for their brand. They need the machine to offer:
Locations
Initially, they are planning to place 10 machines in 10 locations. They’re yet to approach the locations, which is something they need to do, but these locations should have high-traffic and a continuous flow of people. Each machine would carry with it a rental fee, whether that is a percentage of profit or a set fee and it’s worth noting that for Adam, it will take 27 pushes of the button on each machine per day to pay off everything in one year.
The bottles, they offer going to be a vital part of the ability to deliver the product. The bottles need to offer value to the customer and in order to achieve this, they must be attractive, practical, durable, and both health and environmentally conscious.

He is unable to offer a direct reward for donations made to this cause and he apologized. However, he is going to offer a percentage of the donations made to ocean conservation when money is received. Following that he will donate the remaining percentage of the donation to ocean conservation when a clear profit is being made from this venture, this will be his repayment for what everyone has done for this project.
Rewards
For a $50 and up donation, he will donate 10% to ocean conservation.
For a $20 - $50 donation, he will donate 7.5% to ocean conservation.
For a $5 - $20 donation, he will donate 5% to ocean conservation.
