Access to Adventure is making Scotland’s countryside accessible for everybody.
Whether you are a family group or a group of friends with one or more disabled members in your group, or you are a disabled individual, Access to Adventure is your starting point for an inclusive adventure experience or holiday.
Access to Adventure is a start-up Scottish organization which plans to offer an inclusive range of exciting and rewarding experiences across the best of Scotland’s countryside, to disabled individuals, and their families, friends and carers.
The company aspires to provide individuals and their families or companions with full inclusivity, where the activity is adapted so that every group member can participate fully. Where the group or individual requires it, the company will work with them to create a full holiday, including vetted transport and accommodations, as well as a full range of countryside adventures.
The goal is to offer adventures in a supportive and enjoyable environment, Scotland’s dark skies and wildlife by night, kayaking, hillwalking, dolphin-watching boat trips, wild swimming, guided bird watching, and much more, to suit the customer and to provide them with adaptations that would permit them to be fully involved in the experience.
The project aim is to acquire the best specialized kit, so that the company can offer adapted and accessible adventures in the Scottish countryside that are wheelchair accessible. The kit includes a privacy tent/portable commode for dignified comfort breaks; 2 powered off-road wheelchairs; 2 hand-cranked mountain trikes; 2 adapted kayaks for use by wheelchair users; a wheeled carriage for kayak to water transfer; a portable hoist for wheelchair to activity transfers and a set of combination straps/seatbelts for securing wheelchairs and their occupants into an adapted minibus.
